Dr. Jelena Ovuka

Dr. Jelena Ovuka, senior research associate, graduated, master's and doctorate at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad. In the period from 2005 to 2007, she was a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. She has been employed at the Institute for Crop and Vegetable Crops since 2007 as a researcher in sunflower seed production. Since August 2018, he has been working as an assistant director for seed production, and since November 2020, he has been the head of the Department for Seed Production. She participated in the implementation of several national and international projects. In 2012, she completed the International R&D Course: Integrated Pest Management in Israel. During 2013 and 2014, she stayed in Chile to control seed production and the winter breeding generation of sunflowers. She has published more than 150 scientific papers and a chapter in the monograph "Semenarstvo". He is the co-author of 14 sunflower hybrids, as well as one safflower variety. She won an award from the University of Novi Sad (1999) and an award for the best project proposal - "Increasing the total seed germination in sunflower", at the 19th International Sunflower Conference (2016). He is a member of the Society of Breeders and Seedsmen of Serbia, the Society of Geneticists of Serbia, the Society of Physiologists of Serbia and the International Sunflower Association. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the magazines Agriculture and Vegetables and Selection and Seeding, the Group for Consulting and Knowledge Transfer in Agriculture of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the working group for formulating a reasoned position of the economy in connection with the drafting of the Draft Law on Seeds of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
