Dr. Jelena Tomović was born in Kosovska Mitrovica in 1978. She graduated from the Faculty of Biology in Belgrade, and since 2008 she has been employed at the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" at the Department of Hydroecology and Water Protection. She defended her doctoral dissertation "Ecology, biodiversity and conservation of freshwater shells of the Unionidae family in Serbia" in 2016 at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Kragujevac. He is engaged in research on freshwater molluscs, especially the ecology of freshwater mussels.
