Ivana Aleksic graduated from the Faculty of Biology at the University of Belgrade and now proudly holds the title of Doctor of Biological Sciences, majoring in microbiology. She began her research journey in 2013 at the Laboratory for Molecular Genetics and Ecology of Microorganisms of the Institute for Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGI). During her career, she was engaged in research on interbacterial communication and antibiotic resistance, and she was also intrigued by the problem of plastic pollution. That's why she expanded the range of her expertise and started investigating how to break down plastic with the help of bacteria. Are bacteria really that useful and powerful?
