Milan Plećaš is a doctor of environmental sciences and an assistant professor at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, with rich experience in teaching and research. His research is focused on entomology, landscape ecology and biodiversity protection. It studies the ecology of multiple insect groups, with a focus on pollinators and natural enemies of insect pests in agricultural landscapes and other human-disturbed habitats, such as urban environments. Milan participated in numerous international and national projects, including the ECOSTACK project, where he worked on the improvement of ecosystem services in agricultural areas, as well as on the project of monitoring the Asian large resin bee in Serbia. He was also part of a University of Minnesota team researching biological control in soybean crops. Through his work, Milan tries to bring science closer to people and to raise awareness of the importance of nature conservation because he believes that pollinators, like bees, play a key role in preserving our environment and that we can all contribute to their protection. Its mission is to inspire people to become actively involved in the protection of the natural environment and to recognize how important the preservation of biodiversity is for our daily lives.
