The summer behind us is the hottest summer since there have been measurements in Serbia! Spring too, and winter, and autumn last year. The previous 2023 is the warmest year. What's even going on? What we know today, more than well, is that the climate is unequivocally and rapidly changing, and the reason for this is humans. In the first place through the emission of gases with the greenhouse effect. Global society has entered into a risky interaction with the global climate system. Because of this, the planet is getting warmer, at a speed that is completely unknown to both it and us. This accelerated change towards a warmer world brings with it more frequent occurrence of extremes, which make this planet an increasingly inhospitable place for us. Record high temperatures, heat waves, extreme rains, devastating floods and storms, less ice, increasingly warmer and more acidic seas and oceans, higher ocean levels, droughts, fires, increasingly difficult food production, more and more people suffering and damaged natural systems . Why has global society done so little to solve this problem to date, and what options do we have for the future?
