PROTOPOWER

Modern science is studying alternative sources of protein, especially those from agro-industrial waste. Plant proteins, although in high demand in the market, have certain disadvantages compared to proteins of animal origin, especially in terms of their biological value. At the same time, plant proteins are also used as natural coagulants in water and waste water purification. The PROTOPOWER project uses a multidisciplinary approach to achieve two main goals: 1) using scientific results to develop new alternative sources of protein and dietary fiber using rapeseed oil cake as starting raw material and 2) reducing environmental pollution originating from the food industry by developing natural coagulants that would could be applied in industrial wastewater treatment systems. https://fins.uns.ac.rs/project/protein-from-rapeseed-oil-processing-waste-application-in-food-and-wastewater-treatment-protopower/
